You put on your brave face in January

But now that we’re finally through it

Looking back in the rear view mirror

Is probably the best way to view it

But the countdown has definitely started

With signs that spring’s heading our way

All those extra minutes of daylight

From dawn until dusk every day

And if you feel that you need some proof

That we’ve battled our way through the worst

There’ll be one hundred more* on Feb 29

Than we’re seeing today on the first !

Catkins appear in the hedgerows

And green shoots are starting to show

The cross country season is reaching it’s peak

Then it’s back to the roads we will go !

*Seems amazing really, but true. By 29^th Feb, we’ll have 100 minutes more daylight than we get today on the 1^st. (although it’s really a matter of latitude !!!)
