o.t.s.o…..2025

The annual end of year report summary for 2025 is definitely: “could have been worse”

Skipping over the fact that the inevitable slow decline continues, there were a few bright spots during 2025. One of which was completing a short ultra – my first in many years. The 3 castles run along the Medway valley footpath on a hot and sunny 31st May went pretty well, given just 8 weeks of modest preparation which included a longest training run of just 17.5 miles.

The other main positive this year was that I ran in a total of 13 races, again my best for many years. While many of them felt a bit disappointing, there were a couple of reasonable efforts – a 47′ 38″ 10k at Staplehurst, and a 1hr 46′ 06 half marathon at Paddock Wood felt like decent runs.

I failed to hit my annual target of 1000 miles, almost entirely due to hardly running at all through October, but closed out at 940 miles.

I think the main aim for 2026 is to just keep going, and maybe continue with some regular racing to keep the motivation up.

Wishing you a happy and healthy new year !
