A short poem for each of the 12 calendar months to give just a flavour of how running changes as the cycle of the year rolls around.
————————————————————-
Jools hootenanny’s come and gone
December’s glitter fading fast
but look ahead and realise
the best things aren’t all in the past
—————————————————————————
Though now in winter’s fiercest grip
the countryside still fast asleep
an early morning sunrise run
in sparkling frost that bites so deep
——————————————————————–
And startling robins, fox and deer
with footsteps crunching in the frost
the enticing extra hour in bed
will be the one and only cost.
————————————————————————-
The county championships kick off the year
for winners who stuck to their plan
while we who chose more Christmas cheer
achieve the fame of “also ran”…..
Oh well – we’ll try harder next time !!!
